Tango Mercurio Orchestra and Sharna Fabiano Tango Company Performance
Yesterday we had the pleasure of watching a live Argentine tango performance! Kindergarten teacher, Francesca Jandasek, and her colleagues from the Tango Mercurio Orchestra and Sharna Fabiano Tango Company performed and taught the Sheridan students about Argentine tango. They performed tango music, improvised social tango, and an excerpt from “Abrazo” combining modern dance, tango and acting.
After the performance many students practiced their tango dancing on the playground during recess! One of the second graders remarked, "I loved how all of the dancing was improvised. It seems hard to believe that they didn’t know what to do. I love how the music and dancing went together." Another said "I really like how they taught us a lot of stuff that I didn’t know. I thought it was just really cool." At the end of the day, Ms. Jandasek helped the Kindergartners practice leading and following to tango music.
