The countdown to the 2019 Auction Party & Trivia Night begins!!

Below are the answers to important questions you might have about the evening.

What is the Auction Party & Trivia Night?

Our annual Auction Party is the one night of the year where the grownups in our community enjoy each other’s company while also doing good for the school. This year, we will enjoy delicious food and cocktails from 6pm-7:30pm before joining together in teams to test our mettle in trivia games, all in good fun and for a good cause. The money raised from the 2019 Auction Party & Trivia Night will be used to support investments in our Mountain Campus and our Outdoor Education program.

Tell us about the night, especially the trivia.

First, we’ll enjoy cocktails and delicious food from 6pm-7:30pm. Bring a thirst and an appetite because we’ll have some fun offerings to share.

At 7:30pm sharp, we’ll break into our teams of 10 people each and begin our 10-round trivia competition. In each round, your team will work together to answer 10 questions — every correct answer yields a point and the team with the most points at the end of the night goes home victorious. The trivia rounds are fast-paced, high-spirited and, if we can throw in an owl reference, an absolute hoot!

We’ll continue to enjoy beverages from the bar and a wide range of snacks during the trivia competition — all that fun requires some fuel, after all.

After crowning our winning team between 10:15-10:30, we’ll enjoy coffee and dessert while kicking up our heels for an hour of dancing. If past experience is any indicator, tell your babysitter you’ll be home late!

When is the “auction” part of the Auction Party?

Our Silent Auction will take place online prior to the Auction Celebration. The Auction will open on Friday, February 22nd at noon and close on Sunday, March 3rd, at 9:30pm. We’ll have opportunities for travel, sports tickets, fabulous sign up parties and dinners, our beloved faculty and staff treasures, artwork from our favorite children, wine, restaurant gift certificates and so much more. More information on the Silent Auction will be sent closer to the opening date.

Will there be any fundraising at the Auction party itself?

We will take a moment during the night to hold a “Paddle Raise.” During the paddle raise, everyone will have a chance to raise their paddle in support of Sheridan’s Mountain Campus and  our Outdoor Education program. Using staggered bidding levels that start in the thousands and end up at $100, everyone has an opportunity to contribute at a level that feels right for them. Every dollar raised through the Paddle Raise is tax-deductible and restricted for investments in Mountain Campus and outdoor education.

What if I’m not the trivia type?

If you lived through the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, trust us, you’ll be well-prepared! Even if you can’t “name that tune,” with great food, an open bar and fabulous company, this is an event with something for everyone!

What should I wear?

This is a night for casual dress. Think girls’ or guys’ night out, not Metropolitan Opera. We hope you’ll come in whatever is comfortable for a night with friends.

It sounds like fun. How do I get tickets?

Ticket sales will open in late January/early February.

How do I tell you if I want to be on a certain team?

When you purchase your tickets there will be space to indicate who you would like to be on a team with, if you have a preference. In general, we will match people by grade, but we will do our best to accommodate requests.

What are Grandparent & Special Friends Love Notes?

Each year, we invite Grandparents & Special Friends to send a message to their favorite Sheridan students in our auction program. We send a mailing to all the grandparents and special friends for whom we have addresses in mid-January. If you’re unsure whether we have your child’s grandparent and/or special friend information in our database, please contact Wendy Lunde. Examples of past Love Notes are here.

Can I still contribute to the Auction, even if I can’t attend?

Absolutely! There are a number of ways to contribute. Right now, you can contribute a good or a service, serve as a business sponsor (or encourage a local business to do so) or serve as an underwriter of the evening. You also can encourage Grandparents and Special Friends to purchase a Love Note in our catalog.

When tickets go on sale, you can purchase and donate tickets to be used by a faculty or staff member or sponsor a table. During our Auction week, you can be a buyer in the Silent Auction and you’ll have an opportunity to make an absentee pledge for the Paddle Raise. However you contribute, we’ll be very grateful for your support.

If you have any additional questions, please stop by the Advancement Office or send an email to wlunde@sheridanschool.org.

We look forward to seeing you there!
