The Sheridan Parent Association is sponsoring a service activity in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on January 21st at Sheridan at 10 a.m. Details are below. Please RSVP by Thursday, January 17th. Please also sign up to support the effort through a food donation.
We invite you to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to community service by attending a sandwich assembly project (at Sheridan School) for Central Union Mission. Central Union is the oldest private social service agency in DC. The shelter provides 62,000 nights annually to DC residents, feeds 4,000 people a month, and offers workforce development, counseling services, and a camp for kids.
In two hours, our Sheridan community plans to make 500 meals for those in need! Also, another nonprofit, District Mugs, is attending and providing mugs for kids to paint. The mugs will be sold in local coffee shops to raise money for the hungry.
All ages are welcome. If your family can’t attend, please consider donating food for the event. A list of our needs is here.
