Interested in providing a week-long internship opportunity for a 7th or 8th grader? The middle school Minimester program runs during the first week of May, and we’re in search of hosts for students interested in interning.
From Tuesday, April 30th – Friday, May 3, Middle School students will participate in Minimester, a program that sends students out into the DC community to explore and learn. As a part of the program, 7th and 8th graders may choose to participate in an internship in order to gain professional experience in a discipline that interests them. We are looking for any members of the Sheridan community who might be able and interested in hosting a 7th or 8th grader for four days. Currently, we have students interested in science-related fields or an opportunity at the Zoo, but we are looking for anyone who would be interested in hosting.
Some specific requirements of the program include:
- The program must have specific, pre-professional goals to accomplish
- The student must be present for four full workdays (at least six hours, not including breaks) from Tuesday, April 30 through Friday, May 3
- The student must be actively involved in related work for a majority of the time (rather than observing)
Please reach out to Sandy Liebson if you are able to help. We’re open to all ideas!
