Mountain Campus

Challenge at Sheridan isn't limited to the classroom.

Our 130-acre Mountain Campus provides students with an opportunity to move outside the comfort of their regular surroundings and experience new levels of challenge in nature — a perspective that plays a vital role in developing confidence and character.

Mountain Campus Curriculum

Through our Mountain Campus curriculum, students deepen their understanding and appreciation of the natural world. They also develop critical skills related to self-reliance, resilience, risk-taking and collaboration as they take on physically and emotionally challenging tasks.
Challenge by Choice

At Mountain Campus, students challenge themselves and each other through activities that include high and low ropes courses, a giant swing, a zip line and a climbing wall. They also hike, climb, swim, raft, cave and kayak in surrounding areas.
Expeditions

Our 7th and 8th grade students also take part in expeditions each fall, which have included rock climbing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, ocean kayaking, caving and more. The week-long outings are opportunities to seek further challenge while reinforcing their lifelong bonds before they move into high school.
Sustainability Labs

Through Sustainability Labs, students develop a strong personal connection to the environment, explore how society impacts the natural world, investigate and analyze environmental issues, and take individual and collective action towards preserving and protecting our natural world.
Class Trips

Class trips to Mountain Campus begin in kindergarten and the frequency and duration of the trips grow as students move up, culminating in week-long trips by eighth grade.
