Under the brilliant October sunshine, the Sheridan community cut the ribbon to our new school addition and entryway. We had an inspiring turnout of current and past students, parents, faculty & staff, Board members, and neighbors. Head of School Courtney Martin, Board Chair Pavan Khoobchandani, Lead Architect and Sheridan parent Mark Lawrence, and Senior Project Manager Emily Harquail shared words of gratitude and enthusiasm. Our Sheridan Marimbas student ensemble helped heighten the excitement with a few lively musical numbers before two of our students helped cut the ribbon and officially open our new space.
Our renovation, begun in December 2024 and completed in under a year, includes an addition that creates more classrooms and meeting spaces, as well as improved accessibility, safety, air quality, and security. The project has added Middle School classrooms, Lower School reading and learning areas, and an elevator. As a progressive school with a strong focus on experiential education, we appreciated that our students had the unique opportunity to talk to the construction professionals on the site and get a glimpse into the complexity involved in a project of this scale.
We are thrilled to have a building that welcomes visitors warmly, manifests our deep commitment to inclusion, reflects our respect for the environment, and provides bright spaces for our students to grow.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the following: MTFA Architects, Coakley-Williams Construction, Advanced Project Management, current and past Board of Trustees at Sheridan School, the facilities team at Sheridan School, and the parents, students, and faculty & staff at Sheridan School.
“Today we open more than doors; we open a new chapter. This renovation is a promise to our students that the future we imagine for them is bright, joyful, and within reach. These spaces were designed with Sheridan’s heart in mind: classrooms full of light and flexibility, places for collaboration and quiet focus, nooks that spark curiosity, and pathways that ensure every learner feels they belong. From our City Campus to our Mountain Campus, this project reflects who we are and what we value: progressive education that is hands-on, inclusive, and future-ready.” (Head of School Courtney Martin)
“Construction rarely feels like it’s for students. It feels like noise, dust, and delay. But it always is for students. Every new wall, every light-filled window, every space we reclaimed or reimagined was built with them in mind. We are creating spaces that invite warmth and connection, spaces that whisper to every child: You belong here.” (Head of Middle School Rob Bradford)
