Introducing our New Head of School, Courtney Martin

We are pleased to announce that Courtney Martin has joined Sheridan School as the new Head.
For five years, Courtney served as Lower School Head at the Hawken School outside Cleveland, Ohio where she ran day-to-day operations for a progressive 500-student, K-5 facility on its own campus.

For the past two years, she has been the Associate Head of School at Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia, a JK-12 school with 1,600 students. At Collegiate, she serves as the co-lead for the school’s strategic planning efforts and oversees professional development, recruiting and hiring, and accreditation. Courtney began her career as a classroom teacher at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia among other schools.

Courtney impressed everyone with her authentic leadership style with all groups. She is an exceptional educator and school leader, with a long track record of setting high expectations for a program and then helping educators and staff meet those expectations.

Through these experiences, Courtney has built extremely deep skills in running daily school operations, assessing and developing curricula, collaborating with boards on governance issues, crafting a vision across constituent groups, supporting student development, strengthening DEI, working with parents, and partnering with faculty and staff as they strive to do their best work with students.
